6:03 pm - God bless Phil Colins
|
Some thoughts on what I have been listening to lately:
The Go! Team album Thunder, Lightning, Strike is FANTASTIC. I listened to it on repeat all weekend. Highlights include The Power is On, Junior Kickstart, Bottle Rocket, Huddle Formation, and Everyone's A VIP To Someone.
My addiction to the latest Ben Folds album is finally starting to wear out. However I am still humming Give Judy My Notice constantly.
The Gwen Stefani song Hollaback Girl is a fantastic song, so very catchy with just a hint of angst lurking beneath the surface that invokes this intense but fleeting sense of empathy in me.
I rediscover The Flaming Lips - Soft Bulletin over the past few days. I feel bad about The Flaming Lips, I tend to forget about and neglect them for long periods of time before rediscovering and being blown away. Soft Bulletin is one of my favorite albums ever, yet it always slips my mind when compiling a list. I am the same way with a number of films.
I have been listening to Phil Colins Greatest hits. That man is so hit and miss with me it drives me insane. Take Me Home, In The Air Tonight, and Against All Odds are all fantastic songs meanwhile SHIT like One More Night and Sussudio piss me off.

12:40 am - Slide Play
|
I spent a good 15 minutes this afternoon contemplating how much I loved to walk up slides as a child. And just now I was remembering how my brothers and myself would stop ourselves on water slides. There was something so appealing about the struggle to grip the plastic walls and deny the waters force. The three of us would try to stop around the same point and cling to the sides of the slide together. Eventually one of us would slip and slide down into the pool at the bottom and the game would end.
Suddenly slide play is the most striking metaphor.

9:59 pm - Fresh Start
|
I have habitually neglected multiple live journal accounts for over 4 years now. I rarely post anything substantial and when I do post I normally delete it within an hour. I am not sure if I do it out of embrassement or perhaps a sense that I divulged too much sensitive information and could be putting myself at risk. Either way I am going to try my best to restrain that urge this time around.
So, in the process of setting this account up I discovered a 4 year old account dating back to the time I was going to Buff State and dating Jason. I warn you that it consists of nothing more than angst ridden and often drug induced entries that make no sense but are full of odd misspellings. Talk about embarrassing...

A fresh start is always nice. :)
